Biting

It is normal in the development of children to bite.  We do all we can to keep children from biting and getting bit.  We have found in our experience that in a biting incident there is rarely an innocent party.  Most children getting bit are as stubborn as the child that bites.  Bites mostly occur in normal daily interactions of children.  These incidents are often simple situations like a disagreement over an item or when one child falls on a classmate.  We separate the children and take note of the situation so we can be on guard the next time the situation arises.  Biting is a time for patience from parents, staff and children.
